If you haven’t already heard about The Night Owl in Digbeth then it’s about time you do.
Birmingham’s latest bar situated in the back streets of Digbeth is reviving the 1960’s, 70’s and 80’s sounds of Northern Soul, Motown, Funk, Ska and Reggae. Although bringing this back to the modern era the club isn’t forgetting the Northern Soul and Motown roots with membership deals available. You can even reserve your own VIP area with vintage style interior, private bar and a sprung wooden dance floor for all your dancing needs.
Following the clubs sell out opening shows in July it has since hosted dance lessons, weekly club nights and has even had Edwin Starr’s original band, Angelo Starr & The Team, doing a special takeover. The club hosts regular nights includig ‘The Kids Are Alright’ mod style takeover’s every Thursday, strictly vinyl Northern Soul nights on Friday and ‘Mostly Motown’ parties on Saturday’s. Previous special guests have included Brian Rae, Sonny & Spare, Matt Blackmore and Dave Evison alongside regular DJ’s including Mazzy, Joel Webster, Tom Mason, Josh Pye and Soul Time Steve
It’s obvious to say that we are beyond excited for The Night Owl’s upcoming events but let’s mention a few of our favourites over the next few weeks…
With our new mod, ska & soul night ‘The Kids Are Alright’ now in full swing since its launch in September it’s a new Thursday night kickback. Get down before 10PM for free entry or £3 OTD after that.
We will be joining forces with The International Submarine Club to host a vintage and vinyl fair on the 25th – expect vintage clothes, vinyl records, street food and psychedelic sounds! Another of our most anticipated October events is our Halloween party on the 31st rightly named the ‘Mostly Motown Monster Mash.’ We all love fancy dress and heavily encourage it so get your brains abuzz with costume ideas. Prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd best costumes male & female so don’t hold back!
October hosts all of this as well as the clubs usual weekly club nights it ‘s a month full of events so get down to The Night Owl and experience a flashback to past, p.s. don’t forget your dancing shoes!
