Soul would be nothing without the powerful women at the forefront. Martha, Aretha, Nina, Etta and many more have paved the way for women and made history with their music. Now it's time to celebrate the female talent heading to The Night Owl! Here's what we have coming up, including our International Women's Day Celebration on March 9th.

Gabriela and Zelda make up half of French pop-moderniste quartet French Boutik. With Gabriela on vocals and Zelda on drums along with their band mates Jean-Marc (bass) and Serge (guitar), French Boutik combine the perfect amount of modern pop and 1960s nostalgia for addictive mod-pop. As Shindig perfectly summarise: "Modernist Pop they call it. I call it bloody marvellous!" Catch them live at The Night Owl on Saturday, 23rd February along with The Deep Six.

The devilishly defiant Harry Jordan (Harry and the Howlers) is back by popular demand on Saturday, 2nd March. After the release of her fiery hit singles 'Devil's Been Keeping My Seat Warm' and 'Holy Water', Harry is performing her first headline show at The Night Owl. Expect her set to be full of hellish rockabilly and sleaze fuelled rock & roll!

To celebrate International Women's Day this March, we've curated an evening of female driven talent and soul. Marina Coombes, our favourite Amy Winehouse tribute, opens the evening with her powerful renditions of Amy's soulful ballads and classic party hits on Saturday, 9th March!

After Marina's performance we'll be switching up our weekly club night Dig? for Soul Sisters - a night for female fronted music! DJs Mazzy Snape, Jo Prinsen, Mrs Ironside and special guest Saffiyah Khan (The Specials - Ten Commandments) will be playing all the best ska, mod, soul and more until the early hours of Saturday, 9th March.

We have loads more special events coming up including The Ska 45's Valentine's Party this FridayThe Strange Doors on Saturday, 16th March followed by The Mighty Craic St Patrick's Day Party on Sunday, 17th March and local psych group The Good Water live on 30th March.
