Josh was an avid Northern Soul collector & regular at The Night Owl that promoter/DJ Mazzy spotted and asked to get behind the decks, there’s none more passionate about Soul music than our Josh! His favourite dance floor filler is Lester Tipton – This Won’t Change.

MAZZY SNAPE (MOSTLY MOTOWN SATURDAYS/THE SOUL HOLE)

Mazzy helped to set up The Night Owl & spread the word of the club across the uk, she has been DJing for over 13 years in Birmingham & in recent years caught the soul bug. You can catch her Soul radio show The Soul Hole on Brum Radio every Friday 6-8 & on Mixcloud.com/Mazzysnape Some of Mazzy’s favourite dance floor fillers are Suspicion by The Originals, Tell Mama by Etta James & Gone With The Wind Is My Love by Rita & the Tiaras. She also enjoys a bit of ska & reggae and usually drops a ska set in on a Saturday

NEIL RUSHTON (SOULVATION / OUT ON THE FLOOR)

Legend of the scene Neil Rushton fell in love with Rare Soul as a youngster and served his apprenticeship DJ’ing at various clubs including Wolverhampton’s legendary Catacombs. Soon after that he became the fist staff writer at Black Echoes and set up the Heart Of England Soul Club which promoted All-Dayers at Blackpool Mecca and Manchester Ritz – second only to Wigan Casino as the most successful venue of Northern Soul’s golden age. In between that he set up the Inferno record label which had success with singles from Gloria Jones, Frank Beverly & The Butlers, The Carstairs, Just Bros, Freda Payne and more. Neil was a partner in Network Records, the house music label which became the biggest ever Birmingham based indie record company which was sold to Sony. In recent years has published two books “Northern Soul Stories” and “Hype & Soul – Behind The Scenes At Motown”. He owns or co-owns the rights to various Northern Soul master recordings including the classic “Exus Trek”/“If It’s All The Same To You Babe” – Luther Ingram. Neil’s favourite dance floor fillers include Something To Write Home About – Oscar Perry and Do What You Wanna Do – Paul Sindab.

SONNY & SPARE (BOOGALOO / LE BEAT BESPOKE)

Sonny & Spare are resident DJs at The Boogaloo in London, and regular guest DJs here at The Night Owl. They play the best Northern Soul, 60′s Rn’B, funk, and whatever else you want to hear. ANDY MARSHALL (HEART & SOUL/SOUTH BHAM SCOOTER CLUB)

Mod and Soul fanatic Andrew Marshall runs charity soul club Heart & Soul which has raised thousands of pounds for children with poorly hearts, he’s joining us New Year’s Eve for a special guest DJ set at our Northern Soul & Motown All nighter, he says one of is favourite dance-floor fillers is Marlena Shaw – Wade In The Water
