Calling All Night Owlers – Full Capacity Shows are Back!
July 15, 2021A brand new brunch is coming to The Night Owl… The Breakfast Club!
August 6, 2021We opened up our doors in Finsbury Park this July on the site of the infamous Silver Bullet which closed down in 2016 after much protest from the local music scene. Our brand new soul and retro club and live music venue has worked tirelessly over the last year to reach this point, facing numerous difficulties due to the pandemic, but we are now excited to be open and ready to host full capacity events!
We hatched the idea to open up a second venue in Finsbury Park only a few weeks before the pandemic and were met with countless obstacles, but nothing that could stop us from powering through!
The Night Owl Birmingham was forced to shut its doors for a large part of the past year, meaning our team are more than aware of the struggles that live music venues across the country have been met with over the last year.
‘’Music Venue Trust was founded to help protect, secure and improve grassroots music venues in the UK. During the Covid-19 Pandemic, as Venue Support Manager, I have spent much of my time managing the MVT’s Crisis Service helping venues that are at acute risk of closure. It brings me much joy then that in amongst this work, and in a year that has threatened so many grassroots music venues, we have venue operators like Arith who are working against all odds to open new grassroots music venues and helping to Revive Live music. The Night Owl, which stands on the former site of the famous ‘Silver Bullet’, is a hopeful testament to the resilience and maverick nature of our sector.’’ – Clara Cullen, Venue Support Manager, Music Venue Trust
From the Finsbury Park area originally, owner Arith Liyanage is proud to have been able to open The Night Owl this year. “It’s been a tough 12 months but we never lost sight of our dream of bringing the Night Owl and live music back to this iconic venue. The support we have received from the local community has been wonderful. I look forward to bringing something truly special to Finsbury Park.”
Coming up over the next few weeks, we’ve got Sixties Rebellion with DJ Keb Darge, Dig? a soul and retro club night with DJ Eddie Piller and HAPPENING! a brand new monthly event with Shindig magazine DJs!
