This Sunday, March 8th is International Women's Day - a day celebrating the achievements and success of women, including those in music.

The Night Owl wouldn't be what it is today without the likes of Aretha, Dusty, Diana and Nina paving the way for women in music, we think this calls for a little celebration, don't you?

We're pleased to announce Slag Mag (Serious Ladies of Art and Gigs) are taking over The Night Owl on Saturday, March 7th with an all day party of the best in Brum talent! 70's rock & roll songstress Harry Jordan will be headlining, followed by soul/jazz singer Namiwa JazzLow Red Moon (psych/indie), The Bitter Lemons (rockabilly and garage) and solo singer Redwood.

PLUS this all dayer is jam packed with local art, DJs and poetry all fundraising for Slag Mag's next physical magazine of women and LGBT+ focused art and music. Find out more over on their Facebook page.

After Slag Mag we're keeping the party going well into the night with the return of Soul Sisters - a night with female DJs playing rare cuts and classic hits of female fronted soul, Motown, rock and roll and more. Plus special guests Cate & Co will be performing live renditions and female fronted rock and roll along with cocktails, visuals and more until late.

Don't forget, tickets to Slag Mag's fundraiser also include our Soul Sisters club night after, so be sure to get down early!

Episode three of The Night Owl Radio show with Mazzy Snape is now available to stream! Don't forget to tune in to the next episode on Sunday, March 15th at 7pm on www.totallywiredradio.com

Still to come this March: Stride are back at The Night Owl Friday, March 6th, IDLES singer Joe Talbot in conversation with Creation Records' Alan McGee on March 12th, Midnight City Soul Band are back by popular demand on March 13th at our Motown Night, and Brain Food celebrate the release of their new EP on Saturday, March 14th.

See you on the floor,

The Night Owl x
